The internet has become a wonderful source of information for many different areas of our lives, and pet care is no exception. There are plenty of very informative websites in regard to pet care that can give you answer on general daily care or specific medical conditions that you might need to deal with.
- ASPCA.org – ASPCA is an animal rescue organization. This site as a lot of information that you might not find on other sites. Information on pet food recalls, connection to the animal poison control center, information on animal behaviors and an ‘Ask the Expert’ section where you can submit your questions to experts on different types of pets.
- HealthyPet.com – This site is sponsored by the AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association), a very trustworthy resource for information on pet care. Their blog is written by pet experts, and their information resources are similar to what you would you would receive from your own vet. A great place for information on choosing medical care for your pets, as well.
- SimplePetCare.com – A very enjoyable website to visit, this site is well laid out and has plenty of pictures to go along with the information presented. It was also one of the few sites that includes a section on horses. Each of the sections include information on diseases, feeding, and basic care needs.
- MyHappyPets.com – This site is loaded with information for all kinds of pets, from reptiles to parrots and beyond. You can find information on grooming, feeding, health care and training on all different types of pets.
- Pet Care – If you are looking for someone to actually take care of your pet, a pet sitter, this site will help you connect with individuals and services in your area that can provide that type of personal care for you.
- CareforAnimals – This is the official site for AVMA (American Veterinary Medicine Association). Their Care for Animals page has lots of great information, including: first aid tips, pet food recalls, safe use of flea and tick powder, and other tips for keeping your animals healthy.
- PetWave.com – Another site that is full of great information on pet care. This site boasts a very detailed list on various health issues such as, arthritis, ear infections, eye problems, tumors, etc. It also has a very thorough first aid page that deals with many different types of emergency situations that you might experience with your pets, like choking, being hit by a care, or heat stroke.
- PetPlace.com – A host of veterinary approved articles on pet care is the selling point of this web site, so you know that the information you receive is from a reliable source. A unique feature on this website is its listing of veterinary medicines by name. You can look up the prescription name and find out exactly what the medication is and why it is prescribed. A great resource.
- Pet Care Portal – If reptiles are your pet of choice, this is a site you may want to visit. Their menu provides links to four different snake types, two different turtles and four different kinds of lizards.
- VeterinaryPetCare.com – Dr. Andrew Jones, DVM has created this site that has lots of answers to your questions and also offers a free e-book regarding healing for your pet at home. If you are interested in natural and home remedies for your pets, Dr. Jones has information that you may be interested in.
It appears that a person should have no excuse for not knowing how to properly care for their pets, as long as they have an internet connection. This is just a sampling of what is available to us in that area.
